"Most of my childhood I was a relatively normal. Wanted the latest things, to go out with friends.... But I was honest - my parents taught me how important it was not to lie because it would always come back on you. Well, you guessed it, I lied to them. I had asked, begged to go out with friends one night to see a band but they just said 'NO'. All of my friends kept on at me to come so I made the decision to do it. I arranged a week ahead that I would go to my friend's house for a sleep over to study then watch a video. I packed a bag and off I went. We had a great time! My boyfriend was there, so were all of my friends - I felt so cool! The next day I got home and told them it was fun and we saw a movie (that I had already seen in case they asked about it). I had it all covered - and it worked. They didn't even bring it up again. But when they had friends over and told them how good I was I felt so guilty. It didn't matter that they didn't know, I did. Well it's been years since then and sure enough, it finally came around. Now my 15 year old wanted to go dancing at a place I didn't know about so I said no. As you can guess, I got a story about a friend's house over the March break and said OK. He's a pretty good kid and does well enough at school but I decided to check. I learned what he did but also found out the place was monitored and safe. He never told me and I see it's not such a big deal. I should have checked before hand. I'm not going to mention it to him but I don't feel so bad about that one little slip from my childhood."
